Coaching

What is it?

We work with leaders, teams and organisations to help them understand not just what is happening, but why. By exploring the deeper psychological forces at play - such as authority, role and boundaries - we support clients in gaining insight, developing resilience, and leading with greater self-awareness and impact.

This is particularly relevant for anyone moving into a new role. This could be an internal move or promotion, or it could be a new job in a new organisation and new country. In all cases, there will be obvious, clear, “above the surface” differences and changes.

But there will also be hidden, opaque, possibly subconscious, “below the surface” variations. Bringing these to the surface, shining some light, exploring them safely with clients – this is what we do. All with the aim of accelerating the time to being fully productive and performing strongly. No-one can promise to remove all the stress from your job, but coaching can support your growth and adjustment to a new role, or if you are feeling “stuck” in your current role.

Focussing on Qatar enables us to:

  • Draw on twelve years experience helping hundreds of people settle in Qatar

  • Concentrate on the amazing State of Qatar and the transformation it has undergone and continues to drive

  • Make a real difference to the lives of individual clients and the performance of organisations

Don’t just take our word for it. Here are the direct words of some clients:

"Stephen has been a fantastic coach and I see him as part of my wider “team”, where I can discuss various aspects/challenges in my professional career. In today’s fast-paced and pressured environment, taking time out with Stephen, to pause and recalibrate, has provided excellent perspective. He is calm, collected and has a vast amount of experience to draw upon, which ensures that he can help in every situation that I encounter."

"As someone new to Qatar, this was hugely insightful, interesting and I think quite critical to finding my feet here."

Expatriates relocating to Qatar

Relocating to Qatar is more than a professional assignment or lifestyle shift - it’s a profound encounter with new systems, identities, and cultural realities.

Coaching with us recognises that individuals don’t act in isolation - we are shaped by the roles we take on, the cultures we enter, and the unconscious expectations that surround us. For expatriates, this can mean navigating multiple identities: professional, personal, cultural, and organisational - each with its own pressures and unspoken rules.

We support clients in building insight, emotional resilience, and leadership clarity. This isn’t just about adjustment - it’s about transformation. We help you engage more consciously with your environment, navigate tensions with awareness, and step into your new context with confidence and authenticity.

New Leaders

First-time managers, promotees, internal appointments – often the assumption by organisations is that because a new leader is changing role within the same organisation, then the step-up will be smooth and there will be no unknowns. As a result, expectations are high.

In reality, new leaders have as much to be nervous about as if they were moving to a new organisation. Sometimes more so, because they are not afforded the “luxury” of a honeymoon period which external hires get. Also, the shift from being a team member to a team leader, from now having more authority and responsibility when compared to peers, can be difficult to navigate. Reconciling the changes between peer-relationships and personal ambition, requires consideration, intention and careful navigation.

The dynamics within Qatar’s Talent ecosystem means that New Leaders are coming through all the time. I have seen individuals derailed by the weight of expectation and lack of support provided to them as they take on new responsibilities.

Coaching can help unpack the emotions in these situations. By providing a safe space in which to verbalise these concerns and talk through them out loud, we help clients develop options for how to move forwards and feel in control of their new role, not to feel controlled by it.

Executives in Qatar

Coaching can also benefit individuals who are not necessarily moving to a new role or through some kind of transition, but who are feeling “stuck” in a particular element of their situation – perhaps something about how they are being expected to operate, or something about inter-personal connections and communications at work, or something about the culture of the organisation not quite making sense to them.

All these are common in multi-cultural environments where people come together from a wide variety of backgrounds, educational systems and organisation types to work together. Thus I have often seen these challenges in Qatar. Invisible rules, different context, lack of clarity, misunderstood intent, alternative definitions of terms and reference points – I have seen all these get in the way of leading, collaborating and connecting.

Coaching can help clients make sense of these challenges, and unlock them, to develop options for moving forwards.
